Item Assemblies can save you a lot of time in QuickBooks. You can use Transaction Pro Importer to import item assemblies into QuickBooks but you need to make sure that the data in your import file fits the requirements of QuickBooks. This post is intended to help you pre-plan your imports to ensure all the data is valid.
Considerations when creating your Item Assembly Import File:
- The component items within the Item Assembly must already exist in QuickBooks. If these items do not exist you could use Transaction Pro Importer to import your item list first.
- The items in the Item Assembly can be of the following item types only: Inventory, Non-inventory, Service, Other Charge or other Item Assemblies
- You cannot create an Item Assembly that has the same name as an item
- The minimum required field for an Item Assembly import are: Assembly Item Name, Income Account, COGS Account and Asset Account
Below is a sample Item Assembly import file for you to review.
Instructions on how to turn on the item assembly import type can be found in a prior blog post.
